Ware, Massachusetts – A police report recently released sheds light on a disturbing incident involving a brutal attack on a teenage girl, allegedly motivated by accusations of interacting with the assailant’s boyfriend.
According to the report, on May 19, authorities were called to Grenville Park after bystanders reported witnessing a violent altercation between two young females. The 15-year-old victim, identified as “LP” in the report, was reportedly assaulted and dragged by her hair over 100 feet down a road.
The suspected attacker, 18-year-old Ciarah Caraid-Starr, was taken into custody on May 21 and now faces charges of kidnapping a child, two counts of assault and battery, and one count of reckless endangerment of a child.
A video of the incident, later shared on social media, captured an adult male encouraging the alleged assailant during the attack. The footage shows LP being repeatedly struck in the head and thrown down a hillside, where she collided with a tree.
Authorities believe that a 41-year-old man named Arthur Powell IV, along with his spouse, 29-year-old Hailey Powell, were involved in the altercation. Both were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Hailey Powell faces charges of resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, and disorderly conduct, while her husband, Arthur Powell, allegedly interfered with the arrest and attempted to take an officer’s taser.
The relationship between the Powells and Caraid-Starr, who also resides at the same address, remains unclear. However, the Powells’ involvement in the incident has raised questions about their connection to the attack.
Despite initial resistance from the victim, further investigation revealed that Caraid-Starr was allegedly upset with LP for speaking to her boyfriend. The victim reported being surrounded by Caraid-Starr and her associates before the confrontation escalated.
Authorities have also filed a report with the state Department of Children and Families regarding potential abuse or neglect, citing concerns about LP’s level of intoxication at the time of the incident. The extent of the teenager’s injuries sustained during the attack remains undisclosed.
The case highlights the serious consequences of interpersonal conflicts and the importance of addressing underlying issues that can lead to violent confrontations, emphasizing the need for community support and intervention to prevent such incidents from reoccurring.
