NC Boy Renowned for MLK Speeches tragically killed in double murder-suicide

Fayetteville, North Carolina – A tragic incident has shaken the community as 12-year-old Jerel McGeachy, known for reciting Martin Luther King Jr. speeches, was found dead along with his parents in their Kansas City home. Authorities believe that Jerel McGeachy Sr., 38, killed his son and wife, Dominique McGeachy, 38, before taking his own life, leaving many shocked and devastated.

Program Director and Personality Alysse Stewart from Magic 106.9 radio station shared her thoughts on Jerel McGeachy’s tragic passing, expressing how he had been on her mind ever since she learned of the heartbreaking news. The young boy had won a student leadership contest at the radio station during their time residing in Hope Mills.

Both parents were employed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, with Domonique working as a nurse. McGeachy’s father, a former Spring Lake police officer, was praised by the community in 2017 for his heroic act of saving a neighbor’s life.
