LOS ANGELES, CA – The names of four individuals involved in a murder-suicide in a Granada Hills home have been released by the Medical Examiner’s office. The victims include two men and two women, all believed to be family members. The shooter, identified as 79-year-old Rodrigo De Leon, died from a self-inflicted wound. The victims were identified as 80-year-old Arabella De Leon, 53-year-old Rodrigo De Leon, and 49-year-old Merceditas De Leon.
The incident occurred on Saturday at 6:50 p.m. in the 11600 block of Lerdo Avenue, near Zelzah Park. Upon arrival, officers found the door locked and forced entry, where they discovered the deceased individuals. A witness present during the shooting had barricaded themselves in a room and called the police.
The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division is currently investigating the motive behind the shooting. Video footage from the scene showed a heavy police presence in the neighborhood as authorities worked to gather more information.
Lt. Blanca Lopez of the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division mentioned to the Los Angeles Times that all individuals involved appear to be related. The tragic event has left the community in shock, and authorities are working diligently to understand the circumstances that led to the murder-suicide.
