Moorestown Man, 73, Charged with Wife’s Murder in East Camden Avenue Apartment

MOORESTOWN, New Jersey – Authorities in Burlington County have charged a 73-year-old man with the murder of his wife in their East Camden Avenue apartment, officials announced today. Gerard Slavin faces charges of Murder in the First Degree and Aggravated Assault by Strangulation in the Second Degree.

The tragic incident unfolded yesterday when law enforcement responded to a call at the Slavin residence in the Moorestowne Woods Apartment Homes. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of 73-year-old Linda Slavin in the couple’s bedroom. An autopsy conducted by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood confirmed that Linda had passed away due to strangulation.

Following the discovery of the crime, Gerard Slavin was taken into custody without resistance. He is currently being held at Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly pending a detention hearing in Superior Court. The investigation into this heartbreaking event is being jointly conducted by the Moorestown Township Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.

Leading the investigation are MTPD Detective Ryan Carr, along with Detectives Shawn McDonough and Katie White from the Prosecutor’s Office. Burlington County Assistant Prosecutor Jamie Hutchinson will be responsible for prosecuting the case.
