Luanda, Angola — Authorities in Angola have detained two additional suspects linked to the October murder of Beau Shroyer, a 44-year-old missionary from Detroit Lakes, whose tragic death has stirred international attention. Shroyer was found deceased inside a vehicle in the small town of Thienjo on October 25.
Bernardino Isaac Elias, 24, and Isalino Musselenga Kayoo, known as “Vin Diesel”, 23, were apprehended last week as investigators intensified their efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding Shroyer’s demise. This latest development follows the arrest of Shroyer’s wife, Jackie, who authorities have accused of orchestrating the killing.
According to Manuel Halaiwa, superintendent of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Angola, a romantic entanglement is believed to have motivated the crime. Halaiwa detailed that Jackie Shroyer allegedly conspired with a local guard, who was also employed at their residence, to eliminate her husband.
As investigations deepen, law enforcement officials reported that Elias and Kayoo’s involvement included the latter agreeing to perform the homicide in exchange for $50,000. In the days leading up to the incident, Elias and Jackie Shroyer purportedly scoped out the eventual location of the murder.
The execution of the plot saw the suspects renting a car and feigning a breakdown at a pre-arranged spot, where Jackie led her husband into the woods. A knife was reportedly used in the murder of Shroyer.
In the wake of Jackie’s arrest, support has poured in for the Shroyer family from their home community in Detroit Lakes. Troy Easton, the lead pastor of Lakes Area Vineyard Church, expressed profound shock and sorrow at the events. Easton assured the congregation that the couple’s five children were receiving appropriate care, coordinated by both SIM USA and SIM Angola, ensuring their ongoing well-being amidst the turmoil.
The American embassy in Angola is actively monitoring the legal proceedings involving Jackie Shroyer, reflecting the case’s gravity and its international implications.
Meanwhile, the SIC has declared an active manhunt for a third co-conspirator, 22-year-old Gelson Guerreiro Ramos, who remains at large.
