A fundraiser is seeking support for the children of Emanuel Adams and Destiny Fields after relatives found the missing adults dead.
CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — Four children are facing the loss of their parents after Emanuel Adams and Destiny Fields, two Carroll County adults previously reported missing, were found dead in a crashed car off Oak Grove Road.
A community fundraiser was launched after authorities confirmed that Adams, 42, and Fields, 25, died in a single-vehicle wreck. The campaign is intended to help meet the needs of Adams’ three teenage sons and Fields’ 10-year-old son as their families adjust to the deaths.
Adams’ sons are ages 17, 15 and 15, according to information provided with the fundraiser. Fields is survived by her 10-year-old son. Organizers said money raised for the children would be used for expenses including clothing, groceries, school supplies, transportation, counseling and extracurricular activities.
The deaths were discovered after family members found a 2013 Nissan Altima in a deep ditch off Oak Grove Road. Georgia State Patrol said Adams had been driving west when he failed to negotiate a curve, lost control, crossed the roadway and struck a tree on the passenger side. Fields was a passenger in the car. Both died at the scene.
The pair had been reported missing before their vehicle was located. Fields’ sister last saw her in Carrollton on July 26. Authorities have not publicly established the exact day or time of the crash, and they have not released a final determination explaining why Adams lost control of the vehicle.
A puppy discovered inside the wrecked car survived and was returned safely to the family. No other occupants were reported in the vehicle.
The fundraiser was organized by a family friend and employer who described Adams as a hardworking father devoted to his three sons. Organizers said the money collected would be managed for the benefit of all four children as they cope with the immediate and longer-term consequences of losing their parents.
The community effort developed within days of the discovery, shifting some attention from the missing-person search and crash investigation to the children left behind. Authorities have released only limited information about the circumstances surrounding the wreck and have not publicly described the relationship between Adams and Fields.
Georgia State Patrol continues to assist with the investigation into the fatal crash. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has said no additional investigative information would be released for the time being out of respect for the families and because the case remains active.
