Brooklyn Park, Minn. — Authorities are investigating a shocking incident in which two Democratic lawmakers were fatally shot and a third was injured in separate attacks over the weekend. Police Chief Mark Bruley confirmed that writings found in a fake police vehicle related to the suspect mentioned several lawmakers and officials, prompting urgent action to enhance security for public figures. The vehicle, resembling a law enforcement cruiser, contained a manifesto that referenced the targeted individuals, including former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and State Senator John Hoffman.
Hortman and her husband were found dead in their Brooklyn Park home early Saturday morning.
