Manhunt Underway for Suspect in Deadly Washington, D.C. Mass Shooting

Washington, D.C. police are actively searching for a suspect following a tragic mass shooting that resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left five others injured early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at the intersection of 7th and P Streets in the northwest part of the city, close to downtown, according to Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department. When an incident involves four or more individuals being injured or killed, not including the perpetrator, it is classified as a mass shooting based on criteria established by the Gun Violence Archive.

As of now, details regarding the severity of the injuries sustained by the five wounded individuals have not been disclosed to the public. Police responded to the shooting around 3 a.m. ET, and tragically, both individuals who lost their lives were pronounced dead upon arrival.

Law enforcement officials are seeking a male suspect who was last seen fleeing south on 7th Street away from the scene.
