New York City, New York – The New York City Police Department is currently investigating a fatal police-involved shooting that occurred in Brooklyn on Monday afternoon. The incident took place in East Flatbush, where officers responded to reports of a man carrying a gun and firing shots near East 57th Street and Remsen Avenue just before 6 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, police officers witnessed a man chasing after another man and a woman while shooting numerous rounds at them. In response, the officers intervened, confronting and ultimately shooting the gunman. The suspect was later pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital as a result of the gunshot wounds.
Video footage captured by a doorbell camera recorded the intense moments of the shootout, providing crucial evidence for the investigation. The 20-year-old shooter has not been publicly identified yet, but the two victims involved in the incident fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
A firearm was recovered from the scene following the confrontation, as law enforcement continues to delve into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
