Bellshill, Scotland – A 26-year-old man suffered serious injuries after a bladed assault in a Tesco supermarket parking lot, inciting a police manhunt for the assailants who remain at large. The attack occurred between 12:45 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. on Thursday near a red van parked at the North Road location.
Authorities reported that the victim was surrounded and attacked by several men wearing black balaclavas, who later fled the scene in a black Range Rover. The severity of the assault prompted immediate medical attention as the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Detective Constable Adele Johnston from Wishaw CID emphasized the brutality of the incident, highlighting the extensive injuries sustained by the victim. “This was a particularly violent attack,” Johnston stated. “We are conducting thorough investigations to piece together the events that transpired.”
Police believe the car park was busy at the time of the incident and are appealing to any witnesses for information. Johnston added, “Given the number of people likely in the area during the assault, we are confident that members of the public could provide crucial details that assist in our investigation.”
In an effort to gather more evidence, law enforcement is urging motorists who were near the scene to review their dashcam footage. “We are appealing to anyone who might have recorded video around the time of the attack to come forward,” Johnston said. “Footage that may seem insignificant could prove vital in our pursuit of the suspects.”
In a statement, a spokesperson for Police Scotland encouraged anyone with knowledge about the attack to contact them. “We urge anyone with information, no matter how small it might seem, to talk to us and help bring those responsible to justice,” the spokesperson said.
