Man on Parole for Assault Arrested for Punching Elderly Woman in Brooklyn Street

New York City, NY – A violent homeless man on parole for a previous felony assault has been apprehended for assaulting an elderly woman in Brooklyn, authorities revealed on Friday.

According to law enforcement sources, Mouhamed Diallo, 29, allegedly punched a 72-year-old woman in the back of her head as she was walking at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and 96th Street in Bay Ridge on Sunday, May 5.

After the assault, Diallo fled the scene, leaving the elderly woman with head injuries that resulted in bleeding and swelling. She was later taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was reported to be in stable condition.

A surveillance photo of the suspect was released, leading to Diallo’s arrest on Thursday around 6 p.m. He was subsequently charged with second-degree assault, a felony offense. The arrest took place in the jurisdiction of the NYPD’s 60th Precinct, which covers areas including Coney Island, Brighton Beach, and Sea Gate.

Diallo has a history of criminal behavior, with 10 prior arrests, eight of which were for assault and two for robbery. Notably, one of the assaults resulted in a felony charge. Despite being previously convicted and released on parole, Diallo committed the recent assault on the 72-year-old woman in Brooklyn.

This incident occurred on the same day that another individual attacked a 64-year-old woman in Queens. The unrelated violent acts serve as reminders of the dangers faced by vulnerable individuals in New York City.

Authorities are continuing to investigate both incidents to ensure that justice is served and the safety of the community is upheld.
