Trenton, New Jersey – After a series of shootings in Pennsylvania, authorities have taken a 26-year-old man, Andre Gordon, into custody following an hours-long standoff at a residence in Trenton. The shootings, which occurred on Saturday morning, resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including Gordon’s sister, stepmother, and the mother of his two children.
According to Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn, the shootings took place at two different residences at around 9 a.m. in Levittown. Gordon then fled the scene, stole a car from a Dollar General parking lot, and barricaded himself at a duplex on Phillips Avenue in Trenton, where the standoff ensued. Despite initial reports of hostages inside the residence, it was confirmed that no one else was injured and the hostages were safe.
Law enforcement officials, including SWAT officers and a tactical vehicle, responded to the scene and negotiated with Gordon to surrender peacefully. Falls Township Chief of Police Nelson Whitney stated that while they had previous encounters with the suspect, nothing indicated the tragic events that unfolded on Saturday morning.
In the first shooting at a residence on Viewpoint Lane, Gordon allegedly killed his stepmother and sister, while several family members managed to hide from him. Shortly after, a second shooting occurred at a home on Edgewood Lane, where Gordon reportedly forced his way in and fatally shot the mother of his two children, Taylor Daniel.
In a gruesome turn of events, Daniel’s mother was bludgeoned by Gordon with an assault rifle. After the shootings, Gordon stole a Honda CRV from a 44-year-old man but was later apprehended by the police. Residents in the area were advised against travel until the suspect was located, prompting a shelter-in-place order that was lifted once Gordon was in custody.
Authorities believe that Gordon, who is homeless but frequently stays in Trenton, acted alone in the shootings. The motive behind the tragic events remains unclear as investigations continue to unfold.
