SPRINGVILLE, Utah – The mysterious death of a man found inside his van in Springville in 2022 has been ruled a homicide, with a suspect now facing charges. Chase Micheal Caimi, 32, of Springville, has been charged with murder and obstruction of justice in connection with the death of 56-year-old Bobby Pool.
On October 8, 2022, Pool was discovered deceased in the driver’s seat of a van in an industrial area near 1851 N. Parkway Court. The death was initially labeled as “suspicious” by Springville police, who reached out to the public for more information.
Caimi, who made the initial 911 call, has been identified as a suspect. According to authorities, Pool was found with a bullet hole in his left temple, and no gun or casing was found in the vehicle. Investigators later recovered a bullet in the dashboard of the van.
Caimi and a woman who was with him on the night of the incident were questioned by detectives, with Caimi’s statement being deemed “illegible.” Following Caimi’s arrest in Colorado on a federal warrant, the woman provided additional information, stating that Caimi had confessed to shooting the victim after a night of heavy drinking.
Court records show that Caimi is facing charges in Colorado, and Utah is currently seeking to have him extradited on the murder charge.
The investigation into Pool’s death continues, with authorities working to bring Caimi back to Utah to face the charges against him.
