RALEIGH, NC – A harrowing head-on collision captured on video has led to serious charges against a man accused of intentionally causing the crash. Authorities believe Anderson Singleton, 33, drove his vehicle into oncoming traffic in an attempt to harm himself and his wife, who was a passenger in the car.
The crash occurred early Saturday morning on Rock Quarry Road, where Singleton’s black Honda CR-V veered across the centerline, slamming into a brown Toyota Camry. The impact injured both occupants of the Camry as well as Singleton’s wife. Fortunately, all involved were wearing seatbelts, minimizing the severity of their injuries.
Passerby Horry Bravo witnessed the incident and captured it on his SUV’s dashcam. Bravo rushed to the scene to assist the injured, recounting that Singleton made disturbing comments about his intentions. He allegedly confessed to trying to kill both himself and his wife, a statement that shocked Bravo and others present.
In light of these revelations, a judge has added charges of domestic violence and assault to Singleton’s case, alongside charges of using a vehicle as a deadly weapon. Court documents reveal that Singleton did not appear impaired at the time of the crash, but his actions and statements suggest a deliberate act.
During a court appearance on Monday, Singleton was ordered to stay away from his wife and was denied bail. The judge emphasized the severity of the charges, which also include trespassing and making threats against his spouse.
The victims of the crash, including Singleton’s wife and the two men in the Camry, were transported to WakeMed with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Singleton and the other driver also sustained significant injuries.
The incident has prompted a broader discussion about domestic violence and mental health, with authorities urging individuals to seek help if they find themselves in a similar situation. The case continues to unfold as investigators piece together the events leading up to the crash.
