GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities in Duluth, Georgia, have apprehended Warren Crayton, 37, who allegedly carried out unprovoked attacks on two individuals within the same area on the same day, before fleeing a shopping center.
Last week, a 16-year-old reported being assaulted while leaving a Kroger store when a stranger punched him in the face, leaving him injured in front of the establishment on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road around 4 p.m.
Shortly after this incident, the same suspect reportedly carried out a vicious attack on a man working at a car wash located at a nearby Shell gas station. The assault resulted in the victim sustaining a broken back, according to the authorities.
The victim’s family has revealed that he is currently hospitalized, with a long road to recovery ahead that may include months before he can walk again.
Surveillance footage shared with law enforcement captured the moment Crayton, dressed in a blue shirt, repeatedly kicked the victim before fleeing the scene.
Investigators have yet to determine a clear motive for the attacks, with both victims expressing shock and bewilderment over the sudden violence.
Witnesses and victims speculated that the suspect may have been undergoing a mental health crisis or under the influence of substances at the time of the assaults.
Crayton is now facing charges of Aggravated Assault, with the possibility of more charges being added as the investigation progresses.
