TAMARAC, Fla. – A 31-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder following the death of a 29-year-old woman in an apartment fire in Tamarac last December, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Laren Lenworth Emile, of Tamarac, has been identified by BSO detectives as the suspect responsible for the homicide and fire that took the life of Keera Brabham, who was the mother of a 4-year-old child.
The fire occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on December 26 at the Versailles Gardens condominium complex. Brabham was the only person in the apartment at the time, and the fire was contained to her unit.
Emile has been booked into the BSO’s Main Jail, facing one count each of first-degree murder and arson. However, the motive for the killing remains unclear at this time.
The nature of the relationship between Emile and Brabham, as well as the cause of her death, has not been specified by the authorities.
The arrest of Emile was made by BSO’s V.I.P.E.R detectives, and it was determined that an arrest warrant was necessary before he could be taken into custody.
Stephanie Gladman, Brabham’s sister, mentioned that they had been out at a nightclub just hours before the tragic fire occurred. This information offers some insight into the events leading up to the incident.
