San Jacinto, California – A man armed with a semiautomatic weapon was captured on surveillance video shooting at passing cars on a busy street in San Jacinto. The disturbing incident claimed the life of one individual, leading to the arrest of Julio Rodarte, 39, on charges of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder.
Eyewitnesses expressed shock and sadness over the violence that unfolded near a local business. One witness, Enrique Tores, the owner of E & E Tires in the vicinity, recounted the fear that gripped him as the gunman unleashed close to 30 shots in the area where several people were working.
The shooting spree took place on State Street, just north of W. 7th Street, early Monday morning. Reports indicate that Rodarte made a stop at a nearby market before the violence ensued, attempting to purchase alcohol but lacking funds. Shortly after leaving the establishment, he brandished his weapon and began firing at cars passing by.
After discarding his ammunition and firearm, Rodarte reportedly stripped off all his clothing as he continued to walk the streets. Authorities were alerted and promptly took him into custody, but not before multiple vehicles were damaged, a man lost his life, and another individual sustained injuries.
A crowdfunding campaign has been established to support the family of the victim, 42-year-old Victor Hugo Leon. Described as a beloved husband and father of four, Leon tragically lost his life as he was returning home from a late-night work shift when he was caught in the crossfire.
The devastating impact of Victor’s untimely death is deeply felt by those who knew him, with the fundraising page noting his infectious smile and sense of humor that will be dearly missed. The community mourns the loss of a cherished individual, emphasizing the profound void left by his absence.
