Local Man Severely Injured in Violent Attack in Charilam, Police Investigate Suspects

Agartala, Tripura – An unsettling incident transpired in Charilam, as Prasenjit Debnath, a resident of Junglelia area in Bishalgarh subdivision, fell victim to a vicious attack by unidentified assailants. Reports indicate that armed with sharp weapons, including rods and a pistol, the attackers ambushed Prasenjit as he was returning home on his motorcycle from the Junglelia area near the local power office.

The attack left Prasenjit Debnath with severe head injuries and multiple wounds, prompting local residents to intervene, rescue him, and swiftly transport him to Bishalgarh Sub-divisional Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was further referred to Hapania Hospital for advanced medical care.

Following the attack, local authorities were quick to respond, launching an investigation into the incident. Six suspects, identified as Bisal Das, Ratan Das, Akash Chakraborty, Ajit Roy, Ripon Roy, and Bikram Datta, are believed to have been behind the assault, with intentions to cause serious harm to Prasenjit.

Upon the arrival of locals at the scene, the assailants managed to escape, leaving Prasenjit Debnath to recount the theft of Rs 50,000 and a mobile phone from his possession during the attack. A formal complaint was lodged against the six suspects by the police, who have since initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.

The swift actions of the locals in rescuing Prasenjit and the subsequent police response underscore the need for heightened security measures in the region. As investigations continue, authorities are working diligently to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of residents in Charilam and surrounding areas.
