Kingston Murder Solved: CCTV Captures Violent Assault Leading to Life Sentences

KINGSTON, England – Two individuals have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the violent murder of Farhad Khalili, a horrifying attack that was caught on CCTV. The attackers, identified as Sean Deery, 28, and Sebastian Niven, 18, were found guilty of the assault that took place in Kingston, England. The conviction was based on evidence found in surveillance footage that linked them to the crime.

Sean Deery, whose address is unknown, was given a minimum sentence of 25 years behind bars, while Sebastian Niven of Sugden Road, Thames Ditton, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 14 years. Following Niven’s 18th birthday, reporting restrictions were lifted, allowing his name to be made public.

Both individuals were convicted in December at the Old Bailey and were subsequently sentenced at the same court on February 19. Police have commented on the severity of the attack, emphasizing the intent to cause significant harm to Farhad.

The jury heard that the assault on Farhad Khalili took place on December 15, 2021, as he walked along Surbiton Crescent in Kingston. The attack, perpetrated by Deery and Niven, resulted in Farhad being stabbed multiple times. Despite efforts by emergency services, he tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Swift analysis of the CCTV footage led to the identification of the perpetrators. Deery was taken into custody after being mistakenly linked to a separate robbery in Kingston, while Niven was apprehended at his home address the following day, with blood-stained clothing linking him to the attack.

During their time in custody, both Deery and Niven refused to answer questions during police interviews. However, the evidence against them was substantial, resulting in murder charges being brought against them. Detective Inspector Jim Barry of the Specialist Crime Command highlighted that the motive behind the violent attack remains unclear, stating that the assailants and the victim were known to each other.

While the circumstances surrounding the attack are distressing, the actions of law enforcement and the support from the community have allowed the perpetrators of this heinous crime to face justice. The sentencing of Deery and Niven aims to bring some solace to the family and friends of Farhad Khalili, who have been left to cope with the devastating loss.
