Florence, Ky. — A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of another individual at a residence early Saturday morning. Kentucky State Police detained James Sizemore, 34, for the murder of 42-year-old Brian Johnson, whose life was tragically cut short in the incident.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire at Johnson’s home around 2 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly identified Sizemore as a suspect in the case, launching a manhunt that culminated in his arrest later that day. Law enforcement officials have not disclosed the motive behind the shooting, but they noted that the two men may have had prior interactions.
“This is a tragic event that has profoundly affected our community,” said Detective Sarah Williams of the Kentucky State Police. “We’re urging anyone with additional information about the case to come forward.”
Neighbors reported hearing a series of loud noises shortly before the police arrived. Many expressed shock at the violence that unfolded in their vicinity, emphasizing the need for safety within their community.
Sizemore is currently being held at the Boone County Jail without bond, pending formal charges. Prosecutors are expected to present the case before a grand jury in the coming days.
