FARMINGTON, Maine — Investigators are working to uncover the cause of a weekend explosion that injured two men in a mobile home park. The incident occurred Saturday morning at approximately 10:30 a.m., prompting a response from the Farmington Fire Department.
Upon arriving at 153 Moore Avenue, emergency responders found two men suffering from severe burn injuries. Mike Warren, 68, and Jon Bubier, 62, both residents of Farmington, were inside the home when the explosion happened. They were reportedly engaged in cleaning activities at the property owned by Bubier.
Northstar Ambulance quickly transported the injured men to Franklin Memorial Hospital. Due to the seriousness of their conditions, both were later airlifted to Maine Medical Center for advanced medical treatment.
Authorities initially suspect that a propane issue may have led to the explosion, but they stressed that further investigation is necessary to confirm this theory. The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is collaborating with local law enforcement, including the Maine State Police, to determine the precise cause of the explosion.
The Farmington community is closely monitoring the situation as investigators continue their work. Fire officials urge residents to exercise caution when dealing with flammable materials, particularly in enclosed spaces.
This incident adds to the ongoing dialogue about safety measures in homes that rely on propane and similar fuels. Local authorities are expected to disseminate guidelines to help residents mitigate risks associated with gas appliances and storage.
As the investigation unfolds, updates are anticipated that will shed more light on the events surrounding this alarming explosion. Community members are hopeful for the swift recovery of Warren and Bubier as they receive treatment for their injuries.
