BEIRUT, LEBANON – The United Nations peacekeeping force in south Lebanon, known as UNIFIL, is currently investigating an explosion that left four unarmed peacekeepers injured while on a foot patrol along the Blue Line, which separates Israel from Lebanon and the disputed Golan Heights.
According to a spokesperson for UNIFIL, the casualties included three military observers from the UN Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) and a Lebanese language assistant. Reports from the Lebanese state-run National News Agency suggested that the UN peacekeepers were allegedly targeted in an Israeli strike carried out by drones.
