AMARILLO, Texas – An inmate at the Clements Unit was tragically murdered. This inmate, Antwan DeAngelo Alexander, was serving a three-year sentence for harassment of a public servant after spitting on a police officer in February 2021. Alexander, 34, was beaten to death in his cell on Monday, and his cellmate is believed to be the assailant, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Court records obtained by ABC 7 News revealed that Alexander’s actions had caused a Fort Worth police officer to come into contact with his saliva. Alexander had previously been convicted for harassment of a public servant and pleaded guilty to the incident in 2022.
At the time of his murder, Alexander was around halfway through his sentence. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Office of Inspector General is currently investigating the murder, and the suspect’s name has not yet been released.
