Indianapolis Woman Charged in Violent Broad Ripple Attack After Alleged Robbery and Vandalism Spree

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A 34-year-old Indianapolis woman, Denise Honorio, has been charged in connection with a series of criminal incidents, including robbery, battery, and vandalism, that took place in the downtown area. Most notably, Honorio is accused of spray painting over 50 cars in a parking garage, robbing and assaulting a hospital worker, and carrying out a violent attack outside a Broad Ripple grocery store.

Honorio’s string of alleged crimes began on February 2nd, when she reportedly vandalized over 50 vehicles in a parking garage off Washington Street. Video evidence showed a woman, believed to be Honorio, spraying white paint on the cars. Just five days later, police officers spotted her wearing the same clothes from the parking garage vandalism.

Further investigation into Honorio’s activities led police to connect her to a violent attack that occurred outside of a grocery store in Broad Ripple on February 4th. The incident involved a victim suffering from a broken hip and elbow after being assaulted, further compounding the severity of Honorio’s alleged criminal endeavors.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police obtained a warrant to search Honorio’s apartment, where they found incriminating evidence linking her to the crimes. The discovery of packed suitcases and clothing matching the attire worn by Honorio in surveillance footage helped solidify police suspicions.

On Wednesday, Honorio was charged in the Broad Ripple assault, facing an additional count of felony 3 aggravated battery causing loss or impairment of bodily function. Her case is set to go to trial on April 22. If convicted, she could face up to 16 years in prison.

The case surrounding Denise Honorio’s alleged criminal activities has sent shockwaves through the Indianapolis community and serves as a reminder of the unpredictability and danger present in day-to-day life. Residents and law enforcement alike remain vigilant in the wake of these events, working to ensure the safety and security of the public.
