According to a report from the St. Augustine Police Department, the confrontation unfolded on August 6 around 9:46 a.m. As Wilson slowed down to turn onto Anastasia Boulevard, a truck pulled in behind him and began honking aggressively. Surveillance footage corroborates Wilson’s account, showing that he was merely making a right turn when the situation escalated.
Wilson recounted the moment when the truck’s driver exited his vehicle and approached him, accusing him of cutting him off. “Before I knew it, he reached into my car, put both hands around my neck, and started choking me. I started seeing dots,” Wilson recalled, still deeply affected by the attack. The police report indicates the suspect confessed to grabbing Wilson, which led to his arrest on multiple charges, including burglary with battery and battery by strangulation.
