WACO, Texas — A tragic double homicide in Bruceville-Eddy, involving a local motorcycle club, has left a mother mourning the sudden death of her son and ex-husband. Kaylynne Lyons recounted the harrowing ordeal, which unfolded over the weekend, leading to the death of her son Braxton, shortly after he arrived at a violent scene where his father, Michael, had been fatally shot.
The suspected perpetrator, identified as Romi Frentescu, a member of the Cossack Motorcycle Club, along with his wife, have been arrested and face charges related to the two killings. Lyons described receiving the devastating news, overwhelmed by a mix of shock and anger. She expressed disbelief over the situation, emphasizing that neither her son nor her ex-husband had any active affiliations with the motorcycle club, though they were acquaintances of some members.
Lyons cherished memories of Braxton, her eldest child, whom she said matured alongside her. After turning 18, he had moved in with his father, which subsequently brought him into contact with Frentescu and others associated with the motorcycle club. According to Lyons, there was no apparent threat posed by Braxton, making the violent act even more incomprehensible.
The incident occurred when Braxton, upon learning his father might be in danger, rushed to the scene. According to Lyons, witnesses told her that Romi Frentescu fired five shots at Michael as he arrived. Braxton, who was not driving, found his father already dead by the time he reached. Despite the peril, he approached to check on his father, only managing to utter “dad” before he, too, was fatally shot.
Reflecting on her son’s character, Lyons highlighted his altruism, noting his readiness to endanger himself if it meant assisting someone in need. This tragic loss, she insisted, underscored his selflessness, as he died attempting to help his father.
In the wake of the tragedy, the family has organized a GoFundMe page to manage the financial strains of funeral costs and to support the healing process. The community has also rallied around the family, offering condolences and support during this profoundly difficult time.
Legal proceedings against the Frentescus are underway, with the local community closely watching as details of the case unfold. The involvement of motorcycle club members in such violent acts raises questions about the nature of these groups and their influence in small communities like Bruceville-Eddy.
As the Lyons family confronts this immense loss, their narrative serves not only to grieve but also to recall the life of a young man who, according to his mother, showed great promise and kindness. The community, while shaken by this violence, remains united in supporting the bereaved family and seeking justice for the lives abruptly ended.
