Heartbroken Mother Seeks Justice in Fatal Shooting of Son Outside Kent Bar

Kent, WA — In a somber plea for closure, the mother of Demetrius Marquel Marr-Woods, a 27-year-old man fatally shot outside Cloud 9 Bar on December 8, is calling for justice in the unsolved case of her son’s death. Alisia Marr, deeply affected by the tragedy, expressed her dire need for answers regarding the circumstances that led to her son’s killing.

Marr-Woods had been visiting the bar for the first time, reportedly on an invitation from a young woman, when the incident occurred. His mother recounted to local media that her son was an upright figure in the community, emphasizing his role as a family man and a positive influence on his siblings. “He wasn’t involved in any illegal activities,” Marr stated, stressing the unlikelihood of her son being a targeted victim.

Authorities responded to the scene following multiple distress calls about the shooting, finding Marr-Woods with a critical gunshot wound to the head. Despite prompt law enforcement and medical responses, the efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.

The lack of witnesses or forthcoming information has stymied the investigation, leaving more questions than answers in the wake of the tragedy. The case remains open, with detectives pursuing every lead to uncover the motive and identity of the assailant. “This was his first time at that bar,” Marr reiterated, underscoring the randomness of the event that led to her son’s death.

In response to her grief and the stalling investigation, Marr made a heartfelt appeal directly to the perpetrator: “You need to turn yourself in. You took someone precious from their family.” She, along with the rest of Marr-Woods’ family, believe that there may have been another incident of violence that night, reporting sounds of gunfire in the bar’s parking lot approximately 15 minutes before Marr-Woods was shot. Yet, this has not been confirmed by the police.

As part of their quest for justice, the family has also engaged a private attorney to conduct an independent investigation, hoping it will generate additional leads or evidence helpful to the official law enforcement efforts.

The Kent Police Department has encouraged anyone with information, regardless of how minor it might seem, to come forward as they continue to piece together the events leading up to Marr-Woods’ untimely death. Meanwhile, the family remains in mourning, attempting to cope with a holiday season marred by violence and loss, and a mother’s desperate search for answers continues.
