Trenton, New Jersey – In a tragic turn of events, a gunman accused of fatally shooting family members, including a 13-year-old girl, in Levittown, Pennsylvania, has barricaded himself inside a home in Trenton with hostages. The suspected shooter, 26-year-old Andre Gordon, allegedly carried out the shootings at two separate locations in Pennsylvania before fleeing to New Jersey, where he was tracked to his residence in Trenton.
Law enforcement authorities indicated that SWAT team members from the Trenton Police Department were on the scene to deal with the situation. According to a statement from Lisette Rios, a spokesperson for the Trenton police, authorities believe that there are no more hostages in the home and that Gordon is currently alone inside.
The tragic incident began in Levittown when officers responded to a residence after reports of a shooting. Jennifer Schorn, the district attorney in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, revealed that Gordon, driving a stolen vehicle from Trenton, forced his way into a home and killed his 52-year-old stepmother and 13-year-old sister. Fortunately, three other individuals inside the home managed to hide and avoid being shot by Gordon.
Following the initial incident, Gordon proceeded to another residence where he shot and killed his children’s mother, 25-year-old Taylor Daniel, and injured another individual. Reports indicate that Gordon then carjacked a man at gunpoint before fleeing the area in a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Trenton.
Authorities stated that Gordon had barricaded himself with hostages inside a residence in Trenton, prompting a coordinated response from law enforcement officials. The shelter-in-place order issued for Falls Township in the wake of the shootings has since been lifted.
Governor Josh Shapiro has been briefed on the situation and has directed state police to provide assistance to local law enforcement. Meanwhile, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick and other local officials have pledged to support law enforcement efforts in resolving the ongoing crisis. The tragic events have shaken the community of Levittown, located just 26 miles from Philadelphia.
