Grieving Parents Seek Justice Against Covishield Manufacturer and Government

Chennai, India – The parents of a young woman named Karunya, who tragically passed away in 2021 after reportedly receiving the Covishield vaccine, are pursuing legal action against AstraZeneca and the Serum Institute of India. Venugopalan Govindan, the grieving father of Karunya, has expressed deep sorrow and placed blame on various parties for the untimely death of his daughter. Recent reports indicate that bereaved parents plan to file a case against the Covishield manufacturer, AstraZeneca.

Govindan described Karunya as a precious gift and expressed frustration over AstraZeneca’s delayed acknowledgment of potential rare side effects, such as blood clots, associated with the vaccine. He emphasized that this revelation came too late, after many lives had already been lost. Govindan pointed fingers at the Serum Institute of India, the Government, and regulatory bodies, holding them responsible for the tragic loss of his daughter and others.

The grieving father highlighted alleged negligence in response to early warning signs, citing missed opportunities to prevent fatalities like Karunya’s. He mentioned that both the government and Serum Institute were informed of concerns as early as February 2021, but no action was taken until after Karunya’s passing in March. Govindan expressed his determination to seek justice and stated that they are willing to pursue further legal action if necessary to hold accountable those they believe are responsible for the deaths.

In a show of solidarity, families of eight victims have come together to seek justice for their loved ones, emphasizing their shared commitment to holding all responsible parties accountable. Together, they are determined to ensure justice is served and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. Through their collective efforts, they aim to bring closure and accountability to those affected by the devastating loss of their family members.
