Kasese, Uganda – Police in Kasese District are currently investigating the mysterious deaths of five individuals that occurred on Christmas Day. According to SP Luka Mbusa, the deaths are believed to have been caused by a variety of factors including suicide, mob action, and excessive alcohol consumption.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Zepha Lezphan Masereka, Venesio Sunday Masereka, Michael Maate, Edson Masereka, and Mulekya Mbale. The circumstances surrounding each death vary, with Mbale suspected of committing suicide, Maate being a victim of mob violence, and the possibility of excessive alcohol consumption playing a role in the deaths of Lezphan Masereka and Venesio Masereka.
In the case of Edson Masereka, his body was found in a decomposing state in his home, leading to further investigations by the authorities.
SP Mbusa cautioned against taking the law into one’s own hands and urged the community to hand over suspected criminals to the police for proper investigation. Meanwhile, Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Lt Maate Magwara, emphasized the need for continued vigilance and cooperation with security forces to ensure community safety.
Despite the tragic incidents, the district managed to have a peaceful Christmas celebration, without direct links to any known threats. Lt Maate Magwara urged the community to remain vigilant and work collaboratively with security personnel to prevent further incidents.
