Five Men Charged in Fatal Beating and Stabbing at Bergen County Bar, One Fugitive at Large

Garfield, New Jersey – Four men are facing murder charges after a brutal attack at a Bergen County bar left one man dead last month. Richard Franceschi, 31, of Hawthorne, was fatally stabbed multiple times in the chest at JoJo’s Bar & Grill in Garfield. The incident occurred on Feb. 4 and resulted in Franceschi being pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Authorities have identified the suspects as Jayson Rivera, Bryant Sanchez, Erony Sanchez, Dante Moore, and Ricky “Angel” Vargas. While Rivera had a firearm during the attack, Vargas allegedly had a knife. Of the five suspects, only Vargas remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

The men are facing charges including first-degree murder, causing bodily injury, and leaving the scene of the crime. In addition to the murder charges, there are also allegations of aggravated assault, weapons offenses, and theft among the individuals involved.

As of now, the four men in custody are being held at the Bergen County Jail awaiting court hearings. Information regarding their legal representation was not immediately available. Authorities have urged anyone with information on Vargas’ whereabouts to contact the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Tips Line.

Franceschi, originally from Puerto Rico, had moved to the United States to reunite with his family in Passaic County. A GoFundMe page in his memory described him as beloved by many and mourned his untimely death.

The investigation into the tragic incident is ongoing, with authorities working to bring all those involved to justice. The community is left grieving the loss of Franceschi, a life taken too soon in a senseless act of violence.
