Zoran Ali, chair of Interfaith Search Fiji, characterized the assault as a “grave act of sacrilege” that strikes at the core of peace and respect among different faiths in the region. “The Samabula Suva temple serves as a sanctuary for many, embodying faith and cultural traditions,” Ali stated. “Damaging these revered spaces creates physical destruction but also inflicts emotional turmoil on countless individuals who hold these symbols dear.”
The attack’s repercussions extend beyond the immediate damage, posing significant risks to societal cohesion, Ali warned.
