BEAUMONT, Texas — Authorities in Beaumont, Texas have issued a murder warrant for a second suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a store clerk late Friday night. The suspect, Larry Nathaniel Hagan, 26, of Needville, is still at large and has ties to the Beaumont area, according to police.
The first suspect, Keandre Robinson, 19, of Beaumont, was arrested by police just three hours after the shooting occurred. Robinson is believed to have fatally shot store clerk Sheikh Abir-Hossain, 34, before stealing cigarettes from the store, according to officials.
An arrest warrant for murder has been issued for Hagan, with bond set at $1 million by Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Naomi Doyle.
The fatal incident took place at Kris Food Mart in Beaumont’s north end around 10 p.m. Friday, where Abir-Hossain was found dead by responding officers. According to Beaumont Police officer Haley Morrow, Abir-Hossain was killed during an aggravated robbery.
Following the shooting, authorities released surveillance photos of both suspects and sought the help of the public in locating them. Police also credited multiple Crime Stoppers tips for helping in the investigation and leading to Robinson’s arrest.
Abir-Hossain leaves behind a wife and 2-year-old daughter, according to a GoFundMe organized by the Bangladesh Student Association at Lamar University.
This is a developing story, and authorities continue to search for the second suspect. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
