Fatal Overpass Crash on I-5 One Dead, Several Injured

SEATTLE, WA – Authorities are seeking witnesses to help piece together the events leading up to a tragic accident that occurred last Friday, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. The crash took place when a vehicle flew off an overpass onto Interstate 5, causing significant traffic disruption for several hours.

The incident unfolded as the driver attempted to merge onto State Route 599. State troopers have apprehended a 30-year-old man believed to be the driver, though his legal team is disputing the evidence and questioning who was actually behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Instead, erratic driving is suspected to have triggered a series of events that led to the crash, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.

Stefan Miller and his wife, who were traveling on I-5, witnessed the harrowing moment when an SUV plummeted from above. Miller recounted the terrifying seconds when he saw a dark object falling in front of their vehicle, leaving them with no time to react.

The black Toyota Highlander involved in the crash reportedly struck a guardrail while merging onto State Route 599, causing it to overturn and crash onto I-5. The impact set off a chain reaction involving four other vehicles, leading to multiple ejections from the SUV and the tragic death of one occupant.

The Washington State Patrol reports that the suspect initially attempted to flee the scene, claiming he was not the driver. In court, the suspect faces charges of felony hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license, and violating court orders by not using an ignition interlock device. However, evidence is insufficient to charge him with vehicular homicide at this time.

The deceased individual was allegedly driving the vehicle, having picked up the suspect earlier. The suspect’s legal team continues to challenge this narrative, raising questions about the vehicle’s condition and potential mechanical failures.

The Millers, who were involved in the collision, were examined at a local hospital and released with minor injuries. Stefan Miller expressed gratitude that their injuries weren’t more severe, contemplating the potential outcome had the vehicle landed directly on their car.

Of the five vehicles involved in the incident, four were declared totaled. As investigations continue, authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
