PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – Authorities in Philadelphia are currently looking into a mass shooting incident that resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left four others injured in the neighborhood of Strawberry Mansion. The shooting occurred at a residence on the 2400 block of Myrtlewood Street, with bullets found scattered across the street following the incident which took place just before 1 a.m. on Sunday.
Among the victims, four individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, and their conditions are pending updates from medical personnel. Investigators have noted that the house where the shooting took place was being used as an illegal speakeasy, further complicating the situation.
The victims involved in the shooting ranged in age from early 22-years-old to 53-years-old. Law enforcement officials confirmed that a 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 41-year-old man was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Notably, a gun was recovered from the 41-year-old at the hospital, adding a layer of complexity to the investigation.
In addition to those directly involved in the incident, another person, a 42-year-old man, was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand and was taken to the hospital, with an expected recovery. Subsequently, three additional gunshot victims arrived at the hospital, comprising a 28-year-old man and two women aged 22 and 33. All three individuals had sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and arms, respectively.
As authorities continue their investigation into the incident, it is clear that this is an ongoing and complex situation that requires thorough and diligent efforts to fully understand and address.
