Houston, Texas – A birthday party in the Houston area turned deadly as gunfire erupted both inside and outside the home, resulting in the tragic deaths of three individuals, including a 24-year-old man from Port Arthur. The victims have been identified as Nicholas King and two others, Ellesha Rice and Michael Odobo. The incident took place at 4643 Russet Leaf Trace, where Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Investigators were dispatched in response to multiple reports of gunshots and a murder investigation.
According to HCSO, multiple people had been shot, with three confirmed deaths. Responding to calls for service reporting numerous shots fired and multiple injuries, District 4 units arrived at the scene and detained witnesses. Additionally, three adult males were taken to different hospitals, with one of them succumbing to his injuries shortly after arriving.
The investigation revealed that the violence occurred during a birthday party inside the residence, stemming from an altercation between two or more attendees. The altercation escalated when weapons were produced, leading to a shootout involving multiple individuals both inside and outside the house. Homicide investigators are reviewing security camera footage and witness cell phone videos to piece together what transpired during the altercation.
As of Wednesday, the shooting remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet identified all individuals involved. It is also unclear who was responsible for the deaths of the three individuals. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and contact them.
