SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The families of Savanah Nicole Soto, a pregnant teenager, and her boyfriend, Matthew Guerra, who were found murdered in December, have spoken out after two arrests were made in the case.
Soto, 18, was nine months pregnant and a week past her due date when she and Guerra, 21, were reported missing. Their bodies were found in Guerra’s vehicle on December 26, both with gunshot wounds.
Christopher Preciado, 19, is facing capital murder charges, while his father, Ramon Preciado, 53, is charged with abuse of a corpse for allegedly helping his son move the bodies. However, police stated that Ramon Preciado did not participate in the murders.
Soto’s brother, Jordan Cordova, expressed the family’s anguish, revealing that this is not the first time they have experienced such a tragedy. He disclosed that their younger brother, 15-year-old Ethan Soto, was also murdered in May 2022.
An arrest affidavit mentioned that state investigators used Soto’s cell phone and surveillance video to track down the Preciados. According to the affidavit, Christopher Preciado revealed that he was meeting Soto and Guerra for a marijuana deal, but detectives found inconsistencies in his claims.
District attorney Joe Gonzales mentioned that it is too soon to determine if his office will pursue the death penalty for Christopher Preciado. Meanwhile, Matthew Guerra’s father, Gabriel Guerra, hopes that justice will prevail for the young couple.
The tragic deaths of Soto, Guerra, and their unborn child have left their families devastated, with Soto’s mother stating that her daughter was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
