Long was shot in the head by her boyfriend, Jomal Tyler, and tragically passed away. Her mother, Barbara Abdullai, expressed the family’s determination to advocate for Britney, as she can no longer speak for herself.
According to court records, Tyler claimed the gun accidentally went off while he was checking on a noise, hitting Long as she lay in bed. He also admitted to using cocaine and alcohol that same night. Tyler was charged with criminal recklessness on Tuesday. Long’s family asserts that this was no accident and that Tyler had been in an abusive relationship with Britney for years.
Long’s father, Derrick Jackson, expressed his warning to Tyler about the abusive relationship, stating, “You’re going to shoot my baby or you’re going to set her on fire, but you’re going to regret it.
