Explosion rocks car garage in residential building, injuring four residents

Bangalore, India – Residents of West of Chord Road in Basaveshwara Nagar were left in shock on Saturday evening after an explosion shook a car garage located on the ground floor of a three-story residential building.

According to Fire and Emergency Service personnel, the fire, believed to have originated from a gas welding machine, quickly spread to the vehicles in the garage, resulting in an explosion. The owner of the garage, identified as George, along with his assistant Shivu, were among the four individuals who sustained injuries in the incident.

The impact of the explosion caused the windows and doors of the building to shake, leading to panic among the residents in the area. Eyewitnesses described the moment when what initially seemed like a small fire escalated into a massive explosion, prompting passersby to flee to safety.

Upon receiving the distress call, two fire tenders rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire before transporting the injured individuals to the hospital for treatment. S. Girish, a DCP from the west division, along with BBMP officials, visited the site to oversee the investigation into the cause of the explosion.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a leakage from the gas welding machine may have triggered the fire. However, authorities continue to probe the incident to determine the exact circumstances that led to the mishap. Police officials are also looking into whether there were any violations on the part of the garage owner that may have contributed to the incident.

As authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the explosion, residents in the area are left grappling with the aftermath of the terrifying incident, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety protocols to prevent such tragedies in the future.
