Walsall, England — A violent assault last summer has led to the conviction of eight men, who are now facing lengthy prison sentences for their roles in a brutal attack that left multiple victims with severe injuries. The incident occurred on July 31, when a group armed with various weapons, including firearms, machetes, and bats, targeted a car occupied by five men.
According to authorities, two vehicles forcefully rammed into the parked car just before midnight on Reedswood Lane. Surveillance footage captured the chaos as the assailants converged on the vehicle, with one suspect firing a weapon at close range.
The victims managed to drive themselves to Walsall Manor Hospital, where they received emergency treatment for life-threatening injuries, including gunshot wounds and deep cuts from slashing weapons. Each man endured serious injuries that necessitated multiple surgical procedures; one victim was placed in a medically induced coma due to the extent of his injuries.
Following the attack, detectives meticulously reviewed hours of CCTV footage and utilized phone tracking technology to locate the suspects. Their efforts culminated in the successful arrests of several individuals connected to the violent episode.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court, the eight men were sentenced to nearly 120 years combined after pleading guilty to charges including conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. The sentences reflect the gravity of the attack and serve as a deterrent against future acts of violence in the community.
Detective Inspector Francis Nock, from the West Midlands Police’s major crime unit, condemned the assault, calling it a shocking example of escalating violence in society. He emphasized that such behavior will not be tolerated and highlighted the police’s commitment to addressing weapon-related crimes.
Among those sentenced, Amar Shazhad and Hezar Iyaiz, both 37 and 20 years old, respectively, received 17-year terms. Other significant sentences included Mohammed Sajid, 38, and Kamran Moore, 22, both sentenced to 16 years. The group also included Shazad Mahmood, 34, and Khurum Sajad, 23, who received similar sentences. Waheed Ayub, 28, was handed 17 years, while Umar Saddique, 29, was sentenced to two years for aiding an offender.
Authorities are currently searching for Amar Khan, 40, also known as Adam Barzini, who remains at large. The police have requested assistance from the public in locating him and have urged anyone with information to contact them without approaching the suspect directly.
