LAS VEGAS, NV – The tragic deaths of two young siblings in a car crash last November continue to haunt their family as they seek justice and healing. The accident at East Flamingo and Pecos McLeod claimed the lives of 6-year-old Tyleah Lewis and her 11-year-old brother, Dante.
Nicky Surat, 33, the driver involved, was on probation and driving a stolen car at 73 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone when she crashed into the children’s vehicle. Her actions led to a devastating collision that ended two young lives.
In a recent court ruling, Surat was sentenced to 24 to 60 years in prison by Clark County District Court Judge Daniel Piper. She received three consecutive sentences of 8 to 20 years and expressed remorse for her actions during the court proceedings.
The family of Tyleah and Dante is left with an irreplaceable void. “My children are gone,” a family member shared, illustrating the profound grief they endure.
Surat will not be eligible for parole until her late 50s. Although the sentencing offers some measure of justice, the family’s sorrow remains palpable.
This incident has prompted discussions on the responsibilities of drivers, particularly those on probation, to adhere to traffic laws and prioritize safety.
The local community has shown solidarity with the bereaved family, offering support and honoring the lives of Tyleah and Dante through various memorials and gestures.
As the anniversary of the crash nears, the family is planning a vigil to commemorate the siblings, ensuring their legacy lives on despite the tragedy.
