OKMULGEE, OK – A devastating dog attack has left Janelle Scott, an Okmulgee resident, without all four limbs. The incident occurred on September 9 when Scott was visiting a friend. The pit bulls that attacked her were under the care of a friend while their owner was incarcerated.
Scott’s boyfriend intervened during the attack, ultimately killing one of the dogs in self-defense. Despite the severity of her injuries, Janelle remains determined to recover. Her mother, Cheryl, shared that they initially hoped only her right arm would be lost, but further complications led to the amputation of all limbs.
Cheryl described the attack as a nightmare, explaining that Janelle knew the dogs and didn’t expect them to turn violent. As she approached her friend’s camper through a wooded area, the dogs launched their attack, changing her life forever.
Despite the trauma, Cheryl is optimistic about her daughter’s resilience. “Janelle has a purpose,” she said. “We are strong and will find a way through this.”
