WENATCHEE, Wash. — Authorities are searching for a man suspected of murdering his three young daughters, as alarming online activity suggests he may have been planning to flee the country. Travis Decker, 31, allegedly made several internet searches related to relocating to Canada just days before the tragic events unfolded.
A court affidavit from the U.S. Marshals Service revealed that Decker searched phrases such as “how does a person move to Canada” and “jobs Canada.” Following these queries, he accessed the Canadian government’s job-finding website. Law enforcement officials are concerned that his online activity hints at an intention to escape to Canada.
Decker is wanted in connection with the deaths of his daughters, 9-year-old Paityn, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 5-year-old Olivia. The Wenatchee Police Department reported that the girls were found deceased near the Rock Island Campground on Monday. Prior to this, their mother had reported that Decker had not returned with the children after a visit last Friday.
The search for Decker began over the weekend after Whitne Decker alerted police. Authorities suspect he may have been living out of his white 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck, which was discovered near the campground, approximately 20 miles from Wenatchee. Tragically, the children’s bodies were located close to their father’s abandoned vehicle.
According to court documents, the preliminary investigation indicates that the girls likely succumbed to asphyxiation. Decker, a former Army soldier with military training, is classified as armed and dangerous, raising concerns for public safety.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals, are collaborating to apprehend Decker. A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information that leads directly to his arrest. Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of Decker’s whereabouts since Friday not to approach him but to contact 911 immediately.
In a statement, police emphasized the importance of public safety in this ongoing investigation, advising caution for anyone who might encounter Decker. As the search intensifies, the community remains shaken by the tragic loss of the three young girls.
