MIAMI, FL – The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is currently examining the circumstances surrounding a fatal shooting that took place last night. The victim, Christopher Laboy, aged 24, was fatally shot by Deputy Kelvin Cox following an intense sequence of events.
The confrontation began when deputies attempted to halt Laboy’s vehicle due to its non-compliant window tints, near Northwest 62nd Street and 22nd Avenue. Laboy, however, chose to evade the stop, leading deputies on a chase that culminated at an apartment complex near Northwest 85th Street and Northwest Fourth Court.
Upon reaching the complex, Laboy allegedly exited his vehicle while armed and advanced towards the deputies, prompting Deputy Cox to discharge his firearm. Laboy was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
