NEW DELHI — Two individuals have been arrested by Delhi Police’s Crime Branch in relation to a brutal attack stemming from a financial disagreement that took place earlier this year. The suspects, Aakash Bhati, 26, known as Lavi, and Ankit, 25, nicknamed Murgi, are both from Gurugram, Haryana, and were apprehended following a detailed police investigation into the April 3 incident.
The violent confrontation occurred when Arun, who had a monetary dispute with Deepak, reportedly hired a group including Aakash and Ankit to assault Deepak and his friend Ajay near their home. The assailants used sticks and rods, seriously injuring both victims before escaping the scene.
The case, initially handled by the local police at Fatehpur Beri Police Station, was transferred to the Crime Branch after the initial attempts to locate the accused were unsuccessful. The breakthrough came when ASI Ajay Kumar received a credible tip about Aakash’s location leading to his capture near a local gym in Gurugram, which Aakash owned. Ankit was arrested shortly after in the same city.
Under the direction of Inspector Gurmeet Singh and ACP Rohitash Singh, a dedicated team was tasked to track down these key suspects. Their apprehension was part of a larger strategy to dismantle the network involved in the planned attack.
Both Aakash and Ankit were described as former college friends who had allegedly taken significant roles in orchestrating the assault on behalf of Arun. Beyond their criminal activities, Aakash was managing a gym, and Ankit was involved in his family’s real estate business.
The arrests highlight the ongoing challenges and complexities of tackling organized crime in the region, particularly those crimes stemming from personal and financial disputes. The incident underscores the pivotal role of community tips and robust police work in apprehending suspects who manage to evade capture by the local authorities.
The police are continuing their investigation to determine if more individuals are connected to this case and explore the depth of Arun’s involvement in ordering the attack. The suspects are currently awaiting trial, and further details will be revealed as the legal process unfolds.
This case serves as a critical reminder of the impact of financial disputes when combined with criminal elements and the importance of community vigilance in maintaining public safety.
