Condell Park, Sydney – A woman in her 30s was attacked by an American Staffordshire Terrier, commonly known as a staffy, at a home in Condell Park, leaving her with serious injuries to her upper body. The dog was euthanised after the violent attack, as it was deemed unrehabilitable by the City of Canterbury Bankstown spokesperson.
The woman sustained multiple bite wounds to her chest and limbs and was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition. The dog continued to behave aggressively even at the arrival of the police, necessitating the use of a Taser to subdue it.
Disturbing footage showed the woman being attacked while a group of tradies working next door came to her aid. The decision to euthanise the dog was made after it was willingly surrendered to the council by the owners, in order to prevent further harm. The police had to discharge a Taser to stop the attack, and the dog was later secured by a dog handler.
