DEVIL’S DEN, AR – Authorities are intensifying their search for a suspect following the tragic deaths of a couple hiking with their children at Devil’s Den State Park. The victims, identified as Clinton and Kristen Brink, were hiking with their two daughters when they were attacked. The children, ages 7 and 9, are safe and with family.
Arkansas State Police received a call about the incident on Saturday afternoon, prompting a swift response to the scene. Law enforcement and park rangers have been diligently canvassing the area, which remains closed to the public as the investigation continues. The challenging terrain has made the search effort more complex.
Witnesses provided a description of the suspect, although it was based on statements rather than visual evidence. The suspect is described as a white man with a medium build, wearing dark clothing and a ball cap. He was last seen driving a black sedan, possibly a Mazda, with obscured license plates.
Officials are urging anyone who was at the park on Saturday to review any photos or videos they may have captured. Even minor details could be crucial in identifying the suspect. Visitors are advised to share any relevant footage with Arkansas State Police Troop L.
Despite the tragic events, many park visitors remain unfazed, although trails are currently inaccessible. Park officials are keeping campers informed and offering them the option to leave if they feel uncomfortable.
Clinton and Kristen Brink had recently relocated to Northwest Arkansas with their daughters. The community is mourning their loss, as authorities work tirelessly to bring the perpetrator to justice.
The police have updated the suspect’s description, noting he wore a long-sleeved shirt with rolled-up sleeves. The vehicle, seen heading towards the park’s exit, was last reported on State Highway 170 or 220.
State Highway 170 connects Devil’s Den to I-49, while Highway 220 extends through Crawford County, linking to Highway 59. Authorities continue to monitor these routes as part of their investigation.
As the search for the suspect intensifies, Arkansas State Police remain committed to solving the case and ensuring the safety of park visitors.
