Sofia, Bulgaria – A horrifying incident unfolded in Sofia as an Afghan man and his Bulgarian wife fell victim to a brutal attack by a group of strangers armed with stones and metal rods. The assault took place during daylight hours outside the couple’s residence, leaving them severely traumatized and shaken by the harrowing ordeal.
Javed Nouri and his wife were preparing to head to work when they noticed a group of unfamiliar individuals loitering near their apartment building. Sensing danger, Nouri quickly dialed emergency services as a precaution. Unfortunately, before help could arrive, the situation escalated dramatically.
The attackers, described as young men and a girl, launched a vicious assault on Nouri while using metal rods as weapons. Simultaneously, Nouri’s wife was bombarded with large stones, prompting her to flee in fear for her safety.
Nouri recounted his desperate attempts to shield his wife from the barrage of stones and sought refuge in a nearby restaurant. As he took cover in the eatery’s kitchen, he implored patrons to contact the authorities as the assailants continued their menacing threats including attempts to break into their home.
Having lived in Bulgaria since 2003, Nouri expressed shock at the brazen attack, highlighting the unexpected violence in their neighborhood. Despite the physical and emotional trauma they endured, Nouri’s wife emerged from the incident physically unscathed but deeply shaken.
In the aftermath of the assault, the couple made the difficult decision to sell their apartment and relocate to a safer area, seeking solace from the terrifying experience they had faced. Authorities are actively investigating the incident, striving to locate and bring the perpetrators to justice for their heinous actions.
