Community Rallies for Local Hero: BBQ Fundraiser to Support LaGrange Employee Recovering from Battery Explosion Injuries

LaGrange, Wyoming – A community is rallying together this Friday to support one of their own, a town employee who suffered severe burns following a lithium battery explosion. Juan Cervantes, who works for the Town of LaGrange, sustained second and third-degree burns on 18% of his body after the incident.

The fundraiser is set for July 18 at 6 p.m. at the LaGrange Community Building. Attendees are encouraged to make contributions through a “free will donation” model to assist Cervantes and his wife, Chelsi, with mounting medical costs as he embarks on his recovery journey.

Cervantes has already undergone two surgeries related to his injuries and is currently in rehabilitation. The funds collected during this event will be dedicated entirely to the family, helping to alleviate some financial burdens while Juan is unable to work.

Community involvement is vital, as local residents have stepped up to show their support. Cathy, an organizer of the event, stated that the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many offering to help in any way they can. “Everyone wants to do their part,” she said.

In addition to the BBQ, organizers are exploring options for other forms of assistance for the family, including fundraising campaigns across social media platforms. Several local businesses have also committed to contributing a portion of their profits to help ease Jean’s recovery expenses.

For those unable to attend the event but still wishing to contribute, additional donations can be made by contacting Cathy at 307-834-2466.

As the community comes together to support Cervantes, it highlights the spirit of unity that defines small-town life, showing that even in times of crisis, people can rely on each other for strength and support.
