Community Mourns Beloved Texas Barber Killed in Road Rage Incident; Hundreds Gather to Celebrate His Life and Legacy

FLORESVILLE, Texas — A tight-knit Texas community is grappling with the tragic loss of a respected local barber, whose life was cut short in a violent road rage incident. Over the weekend, hundreds gathered for a candlelight vigil outside his shop, where memories of his generosity and mentorship illuminated the somber night.

Octavian Estrada, affectionately known as Tave, was not only a barber to the residents of Floresville but a pillar of the community. His commitment to service extended beyond his barber chair, as he often offered free haircuts to children and made visits to provide last rites grooming services for the deceased.

The incident that led to the loss of Estrada occurred as he was driving to San Antonio. According to law enforcement officials, a confrontation unfolded when Estrada pulled into a local gas station. An arrest warrant states that following a brief encounter, Estrada was fatally shot in the chest.

Bexar County authorities have since arrested 34-year-old Sean Anthony Samaniego on charges of tampering with evidence in connection to the case. During the investigation, Samaniego disclosed to police that it was an associate he referred to as “Money” who actually discharged the weapon. He confessed to fleeing the scene and disposing of a trailer attached to his truck, crucial pieces of evidence in the case.

At the vigil, Estrada’s family and friends chose to focus on his life and legacy rather than the circumstances of his death. His niece Carolena Estrada and nephew Ryan expressed profound shock and sorrow, reminiscing about Estrada’s selfless nature and his impact on their lives.

“He was always the first to offer help, whether it was a haircut or a supportive word,” Carolena said, reflecting on the many ways her uncle supported the community. “It’s hard to believe he’s gone.”

The loss has resonated deeply with Estrada’s clients, ranging from the young whose hair he cut for free, to the elderly who relied on his services. The community’s turnout for the vigil was a testament to the many lives he touched.

Estrada leaves behind a wife and several siblings, alongside a community that viewed him as much more than a barber. His story is a stark reminder of the sudden and senseless violence that can arise from everyday disputes and the lasting impact it has on a community.

As the investigation continues, residents of Floresville are calling for justice and measures to prevent similar tragedies. Estrada’s legacy, characterized by kindness and service, endures in a community united in grief and gratitude for the time they shared with him.
